Gas In Saskatoon, October 14, 2016.

Another week where my guess at the gas price trend was wrong.  Gas in Saskatoon has dropped to 99.4 cents a litre at most locations.  Hopefully another drop will follow.

When I was a kid back in the 1960s my parents and I went on a two-week vacation in western Ontario (International Falls/Fort Frances/Kenora/Atikokan/Dryden/Pakwash Provincial Park/Kakabeka Falls/Thunder Bay — which at that time was still the twin cities of Port Arthur and Fort William), and gasoline was sold by the Imperial gallon (5 US quarts to the gallon).  When did Canada go to the metric system and start selling by the litre?

Metrification began in 1970. Wikipedia claims gas stations started to sell gas by the litre in 1979.
